I got more rhymes than Picasso got paint

It's been awhile since I've written a holiday poem and this year the muse didn't appear in time for me to include it in my Christmas cards. Heartbreaking, I know, but all is not lost! I'm sitting here alone at my inlaws' and what should happen but a poem! Out of nowhere! You never know when or where inspiration will strike - luckily there was a computer handy.

Wanna hear it? Here it go:

Twas mere days before Christmas
And a cold wind twas blowing
This weather is bullshit!
It ought to be snowing!

I constantly check the Weather website
Wishing for a beautiful Christmas of white
But now I'll give up; it's not really that dire
At least we won't have to put chains on our tires
And really I shouldn't be one to complain
In Florida the most I could hope for was rain

I pray for my husband, for tomorrow he shops
In the past he's been known to come up with some flops
I gave him my list with both pictures and notes
And hinted that jewelry always wins my vote
Of course already my shopping's complete
Gifts under the tree, wrapped all nice and neat

But I've known him awhile so this isn't new
He waits 'til last minute but then always comes through
And not to sound mean-hearted and cold,
But for the love of God, PLEASE, no yellow gold!

And now soon we say farewell to 2008,
I have a feeling next year will be greater than great

He made that mistake once. Hopefully it'll never happen again. I haven't worn it since the early 90's.
