When the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie

This sauce better taste like Carmella Soprano herself slaved over a hot stove in Jersey after the financial investment I just put into it. I guess we'll find out in a few hours, for it's in the pot simmering away.

I knew my best bet was going to be Publix for the ingredients and I was correct. I spent twenty bucks on the meat alone, but that's what I'd estimated so that wasn't surprising. What was a shock however, was the price of a wedge of fresh Romano - $15. Holy cannoli! What's in that stuff, gold dust and uncut heroin? I'm trying to follow the recipe as closely as possible, but I'm sorry; that's a tad out of my price range. All in all with buying some other things we needed and stuff to make salad and bread, my bill was $42, which is acceptable. I plan on following Johnann's advice and keeping a little reserve out of this sauce to freeze and then using it as the base of the next sauce so that I just started a sauce tradition that will continue on for years. It's sad that I've gone almost forty years without ever having tried this before, especially considering how I feel about Eye-talian food. Long overdue. I thought it would be just us eating it, but it looks as though our country friends are coming over tomorrow night for the game (Pay Per View, nice) so I'm happy to have other people to test it out. I hope. If the smells coming from the kitchen are any indication, I think I'll be happy with the result. Damn if fresh garlic sauteeing doesn't smell like heaven.

It's time again for hair coloring, so while I was out I stopped at CVS and picked up a box of Chocolate Cherry. Across the street is my sister-in-law's hair salon so I decided to stop in, say hi and rsvp to her upcoming birthday party. We went next door to the beauty supply place so I could see if there was a new hair product I couldn't live without, when BING, it hit me - why did I just buy drugstore hair color when right in front of me was a veritable rainbow of Redken? Duhhuh! I picked out a nice vibrant shade of red/violet and returned that shitty shit right back to CVS. I'm a real re-re sometimes.

I don't know what it is, but there's something more fun about being off from work on a weekday than on the weekend. I mean, the stores were just as crowded and traffic was about the same, but there's just something. I woke up at 6:45 this morning, raring to go and that certainly doesn't happen most work days. I made coffee and because it was so beautiful outside, drank it out on the porch. I then asked the dog if he wanted to go for a walk and he responded enthusiastically, barely letting me get my sneakers on. We stopped and chatted with a few other dog walkers and he pooped not once, but twice so it was a very enjoyable time for both of us. I know they've approved of the shortened work weeks through September, but I'm reeeally hoping it continues indefininately. Especially since October is shaping up to be one big Month of Fun. It's looking like I'll have visitors from Florida two different weekends that month, then at the end of the month I'm scheduled to go down and meet the fam in Disney. It's called Roctober for a reason, yo.

Did I just say yo? I've been inhaling tomato fumes too long.
